Steam process pellets are mid-way between minis and high-quality pellets and use a mix of high and low wheat flours to produce a pellet which is palatable to slugs. Steam is injected into the pellets during the formulation process helping to bind the ingredients together to produce a pellet with good weatherability and reduced dust.
However, the use of unpalatable glues and stickers is required for pellet formulation which does not prevent steam/dry pellets from braking at application and from generating dust.
Because of the ingredients and the process used the pellet density is rather low and dos not allow precise spreading at 24 meters.
Steam and dry pellets have a much reduced persistence in wet weathers as compared to TDS and wet process. This obviously limits the performance and expose crop to damage in case of important rainfall.
