Mode of action of ZC products

Awaken, Radiate, Route and YEALD Plus are all based on ZC Techology™

AWAKEN, YEALD Plus and ROUTE are specific growth promoter formulations all based on the patented ZC-Technology.

ZC treatment improves the growth of plants resulting in greater yield, quality of yield and/or speed to maturity

This is achieved by supplying Zinc in the most effective form, maximising the response of plants to the Zinc, which they need to :-

•Strengthen cell wall structure – to retain & translocate absorbed nutrients and water.
•Improve auxin production – to maximise root development
•Improve photosynthetic activity – from increased chlorophyll concentration.

ZC - Increases Auxin Production

Auxin promotes root development; number, mass and depth.

More roots access nutrients and water more effectively improving growth and reducing stress.

In trials the ZC formulation gave the highest level of auxin of all treatments.

These results clearly show that the ZC treatment produced more than twice the amount of auxin found in the control and 31% more than the second best treatment.

As auxin is directly associated with root production this accounts for the increased level of rooting observed in field trials and for the improved vigour. Treated plants would be more effective at scavenging for nutrients and this accounts for the improved levels recorded in the nutrient analysis data.

The larger root mass consistent across all species tested is characteristic of ZC treatment and enables treated crops to access all soil borne nutrients needed for healthy growth.

Improved photosynthetic efficiency

Using chlorophyll fluorescence measurements, the photosynthetic index (efficiency) was measured over time:-

As little as 7 days post treatment the first differences were recorded, and these increased to a maximum at 6 weeks. The area under the green line and above the red shows the benefit which one treatment with ZC Technology had over the control. This benefit remained through the season and up to the onset of senescence at 16 weeks post treatment.

In addition to these records, Dr Percival also took leaf tissue samples and extracted the chlorophyll and carotenoid content.

This data (shown in the table below) confirms that both chlorophyll and carotenoid levels were increased and that this would account for the improved level of photosynthetic efficiency recorded.

The increase in Chlorophyll content enables plants to convert more sunlight into growth. The increase in Carotenoids reduces stress. These, together with a larger root system and improved nutrient uptake enable ZC treated plants to produce a higher yield with improved quality.
